The Siren and the Deep Blue Sea by Kerrelyn Sparks (cover redesign)

The Siren and the Deep Blue Sea by Kerrelyn Sparks (cover redesign)

The Siren and the Deep Blue Sea cover redesign is a dynamic alternative to the original. The book’s narrative follows characters of lore through an action-packed fantasy romance. Prominently showcasing the main character on the cover of a deeply character-driven book is an essential part of the solution for engaging design.

Bug Homes

Bug Homes

I created the design for the cover and all the book layout. In here you can see pages 2 and 3 as an example of how it looks inside. Throughout the book, text is placed in the exact same position on every page, and it shows a repeating sentence that will only have one word change every time. It helps young readers learn how to read as well as learning fun facts while they do so.

Animal Homes

Animal Homes

Cover and interior designed by me, together for cohesion. Similar to what you see on the previous page, this book is used for pattern identification with young readers, and images to support and give clues about the word that changed in every given phrase. Here you can see pages 12 and 8 as an example.

Cali, Colombia

Cali, Colombia

This is a map of the city that I grew up in. It was a vector reconstruction of it from a map, just showing streets of it. I had seen a lot of these for different major cities, but I wanted one for mine, so I made it happen.

Chicago World Fair

Chicago World Fair

Project started with the help of Susan Vollenweider, co-host of the podcast The History Chicks and co-author of the book, Time Travel with the History Chicks: A Guide to the Women of America’s Gilded Age.

Considering most of the episodes from the aforementioned podcast involved the Chicago World Fair in a way, I gathered the names of all the subjects covered, some of the most prominent expositions and gave new life to one of the most important events of the 1800’s.

Only Ashes Remain by Rebecca Schaeffer (cover redesign)

Only Ashes Remain by Rebecca Schaeffer (cover redesign)

The original Only Ashes Remain cover is bright, bold, and certainly features ashes! My redesign connects more deeply to the story and the characters that inhabit the story’s world. This intellectual property already has an extended universe, including a comic series with fully designed characters. The redesigned cover spotlights main character Nita, a knife-wielding fan favorite. The illustration playfully interacts with the title and subtitle.

Life in a Tropical Forest

Life in a Tropical Forest

This is 13x17 book in size. They are used for read-alouds with students that are just starting their reading and writing journey. I designed the cover, back cover, and all the interior of it too.

Ordinary Hazards by Nikki Grimes (cover redesign)

Ordinary Hazards by Nikki Grimes (cover redesign)

Ordinary Hazards is a beautiful, award winning memoir in verse. The clean but muted original cover design did not mirror the power of the personal narrative inside the book. A rounded font against narratively symbolic butterfly imagery is contrasted with a sharp, angular shape to echo the memoir’s thematic balance between safety and danger.

Product Release Campaign

Product Release Campaign

Project done for Colombian tea Company Té Hindú. These are some pieces from the campaign created for the release of a new product, water soluble ice tea in wild berry flavor. The name of the campaign was “Ruta salvaje” (or Wild Road for its translation in English) and the campaign pitch was linking the product to risk and adventure, these are some of the graphic pieces I created to support the other parts of the campaign, they were used on social media and website of the company.
